Success in UPSC : Jyotish understanding

Jul 8, 2023 by Rishi Kumar Shukla

The question is what are the factors which result in successful UPSC results joining All India and other Group A Services.

The success means power, respect in Society, material comforts , stability and security of career and excellent salary and perks.

The process is through a year long competitive exams and interview.

It has been seen that thousands of intelligent, well educated, hardworking, prepared students appear the rate of success is very low. Often, more ordinary appearing aspirants qualify and more prepared or intelligent find failures.

Experience has shown a set of multiple jyotishi factors responsible for success, we will list them below.
    1.    Competitive ability: Sixth house, Virgo, Mercury , Sixth from Sun.
    2.    Career with power and prestige: Sun, Tenth House, Capricorn, Tenth from Sun and Saturn
    3.    Preparedness and efforts: Third House, Mercury, Mars, Gemini, third from Sun.
    4.    Success of fulfilling desire: Eleventh, Aquarius, Eleventh from Sun.
    5.    See the pattern here, 3,6,10 and 11. All upachaya bhavas. In the Kal purush kundali, owned by Mercury, representing human ingenuity, learning, communication, efforts and Saturn, hard work, discipline, dedication.

But is this enough? No. The most important and critical factor is what we would term as Destiny or Bhagya.

The Ninth House. Karak Guru and Sun. Sagittarius, Ninth from Sun. Without this all other bhavas continue to give but not the level of success which is in the UPSC civil service exams.

One of the most important yoga is the connection between Ninth and Tenth Lords. This too would be a factor but not an exclusive one. There would be 100s with this yoga but not a part of the UPSC and 100s successful without this too.

A multiple set of factors operate together.

In several cases, the 9th or its lord or significator operates in Dasha, Bhukti or Antara.

In Transits too Ninth and Sixth both need to be activated.

The third Jupiter cycle of transit often decides the prosperity success and career. A favourable connection with the dashas and natal yogas of the chart will be significant.

A positively placed Rahu can be very favourably involved particularly in transits.

There are no simple set of rules. But if one has to select the most important connection, it has to be the Ninth and the Sixth at the time of selection.

Needless to say that a key support is the ability of the Lagna to support the ambition and the effort.
